As a general assignment reporter, she covered crime, politics, city council and school board issues. She previously served as a weekend anchor and reporter in Madison, Wisconsin. For nearly four years, she anchored the number one rated weekend newscast at WISC-TV. She won 1st place in the 2006 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for Best Hard News Story.

We will recognize an IT Black Professional, IT Business Enterprise of the Year and young people who participated in the 2009 Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) Twin Cities Community Youth Technology programs, the BDPA National High School Computer Competition in Raleigh, North Carolina and Community IT Youth camp.

Our Twin Cities Chapter High School Competition Team took fourth place in the Third Annual Upper Midwest High School Programming Competition, sponsored by BDPA. Students had 3 hours to document, design, build, and test a fully functional website on a PC provided to them.  The application they built included a presentable GUI, database connectivity and login, registration, and print capabilities, as well as displaying dynamic data selected from the database.

The BDPA-Twin Cities Foundation is a 501c3 organization.  More information about BDPA can be obtained from the national website, www.bdpa.org and our local chapter at www.bdpatc.org.

BDPA TWIN CITIES

BDPA - Twin Cities Chapter is a member focused organization that serves the professional well-being of its stakeholders. BDPA remains committed to excellence and providing a wide spectrum of resources to members, corporate sponsors, businesses, educational institutions and the community. The organization is a catalyst for professional growth and technical development for those in the IT industry.

Our Community Youth Technology Program continues to grow and strengthen. It’s free and available to all that have a true passion for technology. No student excluded. We continue to expand offerings serving a variety of educational levels (beg. to adv.).  Students become comfortable with “being Nerdy”.

Our program is held on Saturdays and we have a great group of dedicated volunteers (instructors, parents, corp. employees).  Classes are exciting and learn programming, analysis, design, project management, and team building skills.  They gain exposure to “real world/real people” weekly seminars covering: gaming, robotics, futuristic concepts, college experience, requirements, & scholarships.
